A campaign for every offering, for every target, for every market. The wonderful thing about search marketing is that you don’t need to compromise and keep coming to what old-school agencies push you towards: one focus.

We think that sort of focus is a bit over-rated. If you have 22 products that sell in 87 countries and people in each of these countries have different reasons to buy each of your products - you don’t need to find some one-size-fits-all positioning that traditional TV or print media forces on you.

Micro-target and micro-market to glory. That’s what we do. If you have 24 products in your range and each has 12 variants, and each of those has 5 different markets and languages it operates in, you just might deserve over 1,000 campaigns in parallel. Not a prospect your traditional agency is going to be very happy about. Our earlier tagline in fact (and the more fanatic among you might dig it out from archive.org) was something like “massively parallel targeted marketing”. While it certainly doesn’t jump off the tongue like “Just do it”, it does describe what we do rather well.

Our name, Pinstorm, in fact also comes from our belief that the era of “big bang” campaigns typified by the “one expensive ad shown once during Superbowl” school of thought is truly over.

The future for marketing, we believe, lies in doing hundreds, even thousands of pin-pointed campaigns aimed precisely at niche audiences, wherever they live on the planet. All running in parallel. A “storm” of “pins”, so to speak. That, and, yes, the domain name was available;)
